Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. (Psalms 37:7-9 NLT)
Anger and worry (fretting) are two very destructive emotions. They reveal a lack of faith that God loves us and is in control. We should not worry; instead we should trust in God, giving ourselves to him for his use and safekeeping. When you dwell on your problems, you become anxious and angry. But if you concentrate on God and his goodness, you will find peace. Where do you focus your attention?
